MEET THE GOOD WITCH: HAZEL

October 16, 2018 by Jack

It has been used to heal bruises, clear up diaper rash, dry up poison ivy, prevent swimmer's ear, and soothe hemorrhoids.

It has also been used to mop floors, clean jewelry, remove ticks from pets, and improve a bad mood.

It's one of the few products that's both FDA-approved and endorsed by real witches.

Witch Hazel is definitely one of the good witches.

The story goes that Native Americans, fascinated by its golden flowers that bloomed in the dead of winter, believed Witch Hazel to have mystical, magical, healing powers. They used it to treat skin ulcers, colds and coughs, soothe sore muscles-and legend has it they even used the branch as a divining stick to find underground water.

Much later, many modern witches considered it a magical herb, using it to keep away evil and heal broken hearts. (Modern witches? Who are we to say no?)

And for years, nearly every household had a bottle in a bathroom cabinet or under a sink-and used it to treat...nearly everything.

Today, the uses for Witch Hazel are a bit more defined, but its powers are still used to soothe, disinfect, hydrate, and generally make skin look better. Especially here at Jack Black®. This is one witch we love hanging out with-on Halloween or any other day of the week.
