HOW—AND WHEN—TO STOP TIME

February 5, 2015 by Jack

Thankfully, Jack loves a challenge, so here’s an outline of what you can expect from your skin, broken down by decade, along with some advice on routines and products you can adopt to slow down the hands of time.

BIRTH to 20

We’re going to hit this as an overview because we assume you’re already past this stage. Chances are, you didn’t listen to your mother/aunt/grandmother/father/uncle/teacher/friend’s mother and whoever else insisted you wear sunscreen. And other than a few sunburns, you probably came out looking no worse for wear. Looks are deceiving. A lot of long-term damage happens during this period, so make sure you slather your kids in this stuff, namely Sun Guard Sunscreen SPF 45.

YOUR 20s

What to Expect:
Your skin will look fine for the most part, even after several spring breaks of falling asleep on the beach without sunscreen. Unfortunately, the effects are just hidden. Whatever damage you do will catch up in the years ahead.

How to Protect:
Daily application. Jack Black’s Double-Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20. Make it a habit. This lightweight moisturizer visibly improves your skin’s overall appearance and helps shield your skin from that thing called the sun.

YOUR 30s

What to Expect:
At some point in this decade, you’ll look in the mirror and ask, “Is that really me?” Yes, it’s you. Getting older. Age spots and wrinkles will start to appear in proportion to your sun exposure earlier in life and whatever genetic makeup you were fortunate or unfortunate enough to be gifted by your parents.

How to Protect:
Continue to protect your skin from the sun with our Double-Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20, but at night add something more hydrating to your regimen such as our Dry Erase Ultra-Calming Face Cream to keep your skin healthy and happy. Notice any unusual puffiness around your eyes (no, not around your waistline)? Help reduce the puffiness and soften the appearance of dark circles with our Eye Balm Age Minimizing Gel.

YOUR 40s & Beyond

What to Expect:
Your skin gets thinner, your capillaries start to show through, you start to wish you’d worn sunscreen through the previous decades. Your skin also slows its oil production, meaning your skin will tend to get drier. It also won’t regenerate as quickly, and at some point, it will start to lose elasticity.

Of course there are differences between your 40s, 50s, 60s and so on, but for the most part, they’re differences of degree, so the protection plan is pretty much the same.

How to Protect:
This is where Jack Black’s Pro Series excels. Check out the Protein Booster Eye Rescue, the award-winning Protein Booster Skin Serum and DIY Power Peel Multi-Acid Resurfacing Pads. And don’t worry, it takes longer to read the names than use the products. Plus, you can get them all in the Defensive Line Anti-Aging Triple Play.
Looking your age is overrated. No matter where you find yourself on the aging spectrum, Jack Black has a solution for you.

It’s easier to age your skin forward than it is to age it backwards. For instance, if you lay out on a beach near the equator with no sunscreen and no shade in sight, you are helping your skin age faster.

Want your skin to look younger, and take a decade off your age? That’s a bit tougher.
