CHEERS TO SEASONAL BEERS!
October 14, 2014 by Jack
Time to put up the margarita salt and cachaca for your
caipirinha. It’s fall. Time for cozy sweaters, tailgating and, best of all, beer. And not just any old beer. We’re talking about the seasonal varieties that only come around when the temps drop, the leaves turn and pumpkin becomes its own food group. Like a new season for network TV shows, this is seasonal beer’s prime time.
Our favorite? Well, there are certainly plenty to choose from. But for the sake of time and space, Full Sail Brewing Company’s LTD 07 Oktoberfest is one of our top picks.
Started by a mixture of beer geeks and boardheads, Full Sail opened its doors in 1987 in Hood River, Oregon. The brewer won its first award just two years later, a gold at the Great American Beer Festival.
Their passion really comes through in this fall limited edition of LTD 07 Oktoberfest (ABV 5.7% IBU 26). This three-time gold winner is brewed in the true Bavarian style, using two-row pale, Vienna, caramel and imported Munich malts, moderately hopped with imported Czech Saaz and Yakima Sterling hops. But hurry—this smooth, malty lager is only available for a limited time in
select spots throughout the country.
So if you couldn't make it to Munich for the real Oktoberfest deal, no worries. Pack a cooler, hit the trail and wallow in the splendor of
fall (beer).
