It’s a busy time of the year for sports fans. With football starting up, it’s hard to balance your time. In case you missed the U.S. Open over the past 2 weeks, we have rounded up the main highlights from this 47th annual U.S. Open.

+ A 17 year old girl, Belinda Bencic, made it to her first Grand Slam quarterfinals after beating out two top ten players at the U.S. Open.

+ Caroline Wozniacki upset the fifth-seeded Maria Sherapova 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals.

+ Serena Williams defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 6-3 in the championship match of the U.S. Open to win her 6th U.S. Open and her 18th Grand Slam Tournament. Only three other women have held 18 Grand Slam Titles, Serena joined the club on Sunday after her big win.

+ Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, two players who were expected in the finals, were both upset in the semifinals by players who had never made it that far in a Grand Slam tournament.

+ With their 5th U.S. Open championship, Bryan Brothers won their 100th doubles tournament title.

+ Marin Cilic defeated Kei Nishikori 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 to win the men’s singles final match of the U.S. Open and become its most unexpected champion.
