SKINCARE TIPS FOR GOLFERS

May 21, 2014 by Jack

Golf is a dangerous sport. Sometimes more so for the equipment itself, which can end up around trees, in ponds or through the windshield of an SUV. But that doesn’t mean it’s without risk for the player—prolonged exposure to the wind and sun, the toll that pounding a few buckets of balls can take on your hands, the torque on your lower back. Not that we’re complaining. There are worse things in life than golf (though some rounds might not feel like it). But there are simple things you can do to make sure you feel your best before, during and after a round.

Wear Sunscreen.

Even if you spend 90 percent of your time in the woods looking for lost balls, the sun always finds bare skin on a golf course. We recommend Sun Guard Sunscreen SPF 45. It’s sweat resistant and won’t run or drip in your eyes during those make-or-break putts.

Wear Lipscreen.

No, that’s not what it’s called, but it is what it does. You likely had to convince your significant other to allow you a day out of the house to play golf, so don’t kiss them hello with dry, cracked lips. Try our Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25.

Heal Your Hands.

The famous golf instructor Harvey Penick suggested the club should be held as if one was holding a bird. This grip might leave your hands in fine condition, but since most of us don’t, there’s Jack Black’s Industrial Strength Hand Healer. It helps smooth dry, chapped and cracked hands—i.e., the hands of a golfer.

Heal Your Body.

The golf swing is a bizarre, unnatural motion as anyone who’s ever watched Charles Barkley can attest. But even the prettiest swing generates a lot of torque, and that means sore muscles. After you’ve relaxed at the 19th hole, relax at home with our Body Rehab Scrub & Muscle Soak. While none of these products are guaranteed to take strokes off your game, they will leave you feeling good enough to go to the only place that will—the range.
