It’s not necessarily the things we enjoy that change as we age. It’s the ingredients. At age 12, the perfect spring break is the city pool and an arsenal of water guns. At 22, it’s a crowded beach and cheap alcohol. At 32? 42? You’re likely looking for an upgrade.

Isla Holbox, Mexico

Just off the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, not far from Cancun, is a 21-square-mile island that many tourists still haven’t discovered. Most people reach the island by ferry. This is a place where the streets really do have no name.

The beaches are seemingly endless as is the variety of wildlife, with some 150 species of birds, including flamingos and ibis. Swimming with whale sharks, horseback riding and kiteboarding in some of the friendliest waters in the world are just a few of the activities, but this isn’t really an adventure destination—it’s an oasis. Bungalows and golf carts not towering hotels and RVs on the beachfront.

This is the place you go when you really do need a break that just happens to be in spring. And whether you make it your sole destination or a respite on a trip to one of the more popular mainland resorts, you won’t regret the journey.

And when you’re packing your bag, don't forget our Sun Guard Sunscreen SPF 45 to ensure a sunburn-free trip. This oil-free and water-resistant lotion will stay on while you’re kiteboarding or just kicking back. While you’re at it, pocket some Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 to avoid chapped and sunburned.

So here’s to some future nostalgia where the scent of quality sunscreen takes you a thousand miles away from your daily grind. We’d drink to that on some quiet beach, and we hope you will, too.
