Let Jack bring out the smooth operator in you. We've got everything you need for the perfect shave, from the most effective products to easy-to-follow techniques. All designed to make the effort less taxing. The process more comfortable. And maybe best of all, produce the results you want–softer, smoother, healthier–looking skin.
Before you shave in the morning, wait about 30 minutes after you get up. This allows your facial muscles to tighten up again (they tend to sag during sleep), helping to lift hairs from the surface of your skin. The result–they'll be easier to cut.
Exfoliating will help prep skin for shaving. Regular use of Face Buff Energizing Scrub removes dead skin cells, dirt and oil; with a smoother surface, you'll get an easier shave and less chance of razor burn.
Shave in the shower–or immediately after–if using a blade. The warm water and steam will help soften your beard and increase skin's elasticity.
Use a soft touch. Avoid over-shaving. And don't rush. Remember, most shaving casualties are self-inflicted.
It's generally best to shave in the direction your beard grows. Going with the grain minimizes your chance of razor burn, redness or irritation. But remember that not all hair grows in the same direction. Adjust how you shave your cheeks, chin and neck accordingly. (For the very closest shave, you may need to shave across or against the grain. In this case, wait until the end of your shave, reapply a bit more Beard Lube and stroke lightly.)
Shave your chin and upper lip last. Because these whiskers are the toughest, you're giving Beard Lube more time to penetrate and soften whiskers.
Change your blade often. A dull one increases the likelihood of nicks and cuts. Also, when you shave, you'll get better results if you rinse your blade often in hot water.
A transparent formula, like Beard Lube, lets you see exactly where you're shaving–especially helpful when shaving around sideburns, moustaches or goatees.
Avoid any products containing alcohol after shaving; they can sting, dry and irritate skin. A better choice–Post Shave Cooling Gel with natural aloe and lavender to soothe and calm.
With an electric razor, you'll want to shave before you shower when whiskers are more rigid and easier to trim. Also, avoid stretching your skin while shaving with a rotary blade; you'll increase your chance of ingrowns or irritation. Electric Shave Enhancer conditions, soothes and reduces razor friction for a more comfortable shave.
