I've been hearing a lot about sunscreens lately and some potentially hearmful ingredients in them. Are Jack Black sunscreens safe? |
In a short answer: Yes, Jack Black sunscreens are completely safe and beneficial to your skin. A recent report made by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), a Washington D.C.-based lobbying group, about the safety of sunscreens on the market has raised concerns among some consumers. The report stated that sunscreens containing Octinoxate, Octisalate, Homosalate, Oxybenzone and Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), among other ingredients, should be thrown out due to health concerns. Some of these ingredients, including Octinoxate, Octisalate and Retinyl Palmitate, are found in some of our sun care products and we believe they are beneficial to the skin, provide exceptional sun protection and are completely safe. The report made by the EWG is misleading and contains unscientific claims, which have not been substantiated by any studies or data to show that these ingredients are harmful. The EWG’s assertions about sunscreen efficacy and safety flies in the face of hundreds of published, peer-reviewed studies from medical and research centers all over the world proving sunscreen can prevent skin cancer as well as wrinkles and skin discolorations. All ingredients used in sunscreens have been carefully and extensively reviewed for safety and efficacy by governing bodies, including the FDA before they can be put on the market. |
